DocSend alternatives for small teams

Six alternatives with prices re-checked July 28, 2026, plus the honest option nobody lists.

DocSend earned its position: link tracking works, the analytics are real, and plenty of teams have run a whole fundraise on it. People look for alternatives because of the bill, not the software. DocSend licenses each account user, Standard includes 1 user, and in the current billed-yearly view Advanced is $150 a month and Advanced Data Rooms is $180 a month, each with 3 users. Dynamic watermarking and NDA gating sit on Advanced and above, and there is no ongoing free tier, just a 14-day trial.

Before the list, the disclosure: this page is published by Punctilio, one of the alternatives below. The deal we can offer instead of neutrality is verifiability. Every price is the one published on the vendor’s own pricing page and re-checked July 28, 2026. Every entry links a fuller comparison that says when that tool is the right call, and our own gaps are stated in the same plain sentences.

The list

Punctilio

Small teams that want the room, collection, and signing in one plan

Full disclosure: Punctilio is our product and this page lives on our site, so judge this entry accordingly. It is $29.99 a month for the workspace with 3 seats included and $5 a month for each additional seat, and the one plan covers data rooms with watermarking and NDA gates, checklist-based client document collection with malware scanning, and e-signing.

The honest gaps: no SSO, no public API, and 10 GB of storage per workspace. If your process needs those, one of the tools below fits better.

Peony

The closest like-for-like sharing replacement

Peony prices per admin: Business is $30 per admin a month and Data Room is $52 per admin a month, billed annually with monthly billing higher. Business uses an acknowledge-only NDA, and dynamic watermarking plus the signed-PDF NDA wait for the Data Room tier. There is also a free personal plan capped at 50 documents and 3 e-signatures a month.

Client document collection is not a listed feature on the published plans, and signing is document-level rather than a full envelope workflow.

Ellty

The cheapest paid entry point for one person

Ellty's Standard tier is $39 a month billed annually for 1 user with a single data room link and e-signatures. The lightweight data room with NDA gating starts at $79 a month with 2 users, and dynamic watermarking, granular permissions, and the audit log wait for Data Room Plus at $199 a month with 3 users.

If you are one person sharing a deck, Standard is a real budget option. The gates arrive when the process gets serious.

Digify

Document rights management depth

Digify starts at $140 a month for 1 user when billed annually, or $190 month to month. The security stack is the point: end-to-end passkey encryption, screen shield, print and download revocation, and one-time sharing. Teams that edit Office files inside the room and processes that need a closing archive with a comfort letter are also covered on its upper tiers.

E-signing and client document collection are not on the published plans, so the rest of the deal stack is a separate purchase.

Content Snare

Collection as the whole job

Content Snare is a collection specialist: checklists, conditional questions, and SMS reminders on every plan. Basic is $35 a month billed annually with 2 users and 20 active requests, and the meter is active requests, so a busy season moves you to Plus at $71 or Pro at $119. Custom starts at $215 a month for 20+ users.

Collection is also where it ends. Files export to storage, and sharing them back out with any control, or getting an engagement letter signed, means another product.

Full comparison

FileInvite

Lending institutions at volume

FileInvite repositioned to lenders: Standard starts at $9,900 a year, billed annually and sized for up to about 100 typical commercial loans a year. SharePoint integration, SSO, and API access live on the quote-based Enterprise tier.

For a bank operations team that is a rational bill. For a small firm it is a different universe, which is usually why the search that found this page started.

A shared drive folder

Low-stakes sharing with people you trust

The honest budget option is the Google Drive or Dropbox folder you already pay for. If the documents are low stakes and the recipients are trusted, a folder link is free and everyone knows how it works.

What you give up is the control layer: no dynamic watermarking, no NDA gate, no per-link expiration or revocation, no view analytics, no checklist review loop, and no signing. The moment a deal or an engagement depends on who saw what, that layer is the product.

How to choose

Count the people who need accounts, then price that number rather than the entry tier. Per-user pricing looks fine at one seat and compounds from there, which is what the calculator makes visible.

Decide whether collection and signing must be included. If the answer is yes and the tool only shares or only collects, the real price is that tool plus the second and third product it needs.

If you need SSO, a public API, or enterprise administration, pick for that: DocSend’s upper tiers and Digify’s Business tier carry that plumbing, and Punctilio does not.

Common questions

What is the cheapest DocSend alternative?

It depends on seats and billing. At the published entry prices, Punctilio is $29.99 a month with 3 seats included, Peony's Business tier is $30 per admin a month billed annually, and Ellty's Standard is $39 a month billed annually for 1 user, each with different feature gates. For your team size, the cost calculator at punctil.io/compare/calculator shows all six side by side.

Does DocSend have a free plan?

As of July 2026, DocSend's pricing page presents a 14-day Advanced Data Rooms trial and paid plans rather than an ongoing free tier. Among the alternatives here, Peony has a free personal plan capped at 50 documents and 3 e-signatures a month. Punctilio's trial is 7 days and asks for no card.

Why trust an alternatives list written by a competitor?

Every price here is the price published on the vendor's own pricing page, re-checked July 28, 2026. Each entry links a fuller comparison that says plainly when the other tool is the right call, and Punctilio's own gaps are stated the same way: no SSO, no public API, 10 GB of storage. Corrections go to support@punctil.io.

One plan, the whole workspace

Start your 7-day trial of Punctilio. No card required. After that it is $29.99 a month for the workspace, with 3 seats included and $5 a month for each additional seat: data rooms, native e-signing, and client document collection with malware scanning.

One plan for the whole workflow. Seats and storage scale; features do not sit behind a tier you discover mid-deal.
