Start with the work you have

Create a room, request a file, or prepare an agreement. You don't need to use every workflow to get started.

Before you upload

Files and playback

File size, format, and browser support all affect what you can share and preview.

Security and file handling
How large can a file be?
Keep individual files under 50 MB. This leaves room within the current upload limit for file protection. Your plan includes 10 GB of workspace storage. Contact us about larger-file needs before choosing a custom plan.
Which files can my team add to a data room?
PDFs; PNG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP images; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files; OpenDocument files; RTF and plain text; and MP4, WebM, MOV, and M4V videos. Office documents need conversion for an in-browser preview, which may not preserve every layout detail.
Can recipients watch an MP4?
Yes, when the video's codec is supported by their browser. The MP4 extension alone does not guarantee playback, so test the shared viewer before sending a video. Video uses protected managed storage rather than the client-side encryption used for supported documents.
Are client request uploads the same?
Client requests accept documents and images, with allowed formats shown on the request. Visitor uploads are quarantined and scanned before your team can approve or file them. Videos belong in a data room and should be uploaded by a workspace member.
